Edward H. “Tiger” Maguire, 76, of Henrico/Lake Gaston passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 28, under hospice care at his home. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Olive Branch United Methodist Church, 4141 Gasburg Rd., Gasburg, Va. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Maguire was a native of Miquon/Conshohocken, Pa., the son of the late Henry Boas and Susan Bennet Maguire. Edward attended the Miquon School, Proctor Academy and Penn State University.
He served in the U.S. Army in the 19th AVN Co. 8th Army.
Mr. Maguire worked for the Unisys Corporation for 28 years, retiring as the director of real estate in 1999. Tiger then enjoyed 20 years of retirement, traveling and spending and sharing time with family and friends on Lake Gaston.
Mr. Maguire was an active member of the Wissahickan Ski Club and the Philadelphia Swimming Club and was a life member of the Penn State Alumni and was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho.
He loved both snow and water skiing, golf and working on projects in his garage. He was always willing to help fix a lawnmower, car or boat. Tiger was a football and NASCAR enthusiast and was a loving friend and husband.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his stepson, Scott Townsend; grandchildren, William Townsend (Nicole) and McKenzie Townsend; his great-granddaughter, Elanor Townsend; his siblings, Louise Hildreth (Art), Harry Maguire (Gerry), Alexander Maguire (Sandie), Ellen Sussman (Mark) and Benjamin Maguire; and many nieces and nephews.
