Stephen King Reed, 84, of Littleton, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, at VCU/MCV hospital in Richmond, Va. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, March 2, at 3:30 p.m. at Prospect United Methodist Church in Ebony, Va.
Mr. Reed was a Marine (1953-1957), Korean Conflict veteran and a machinist with Intelligent Machine Research from 1958 until 1974 with the federal government and the Naval Research Lab from 1974 until he retired in September 1990.
He lived in the northern Virginia area until moving to Lake Gaston in 1992. He was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church in Ebony, Va., Eaton ’s Ferry AARP and the Lake Gaston Computer Club.
Mr. Reed is survived by his wife, Marilyn Reed; his daughter, Deborah L. Reed; grandchildren, Crystal Zusmer, and husband Dean, Robert (Rob) Norton, and wife, Julie, Nick Norton, and wife, Jessica; step-sons, William Frank, and wife, Laura, and, David Frank, and wife, Paula; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
