Kerr Reservoir, Lake Gaston, Roanoke Rapids Lake and the Lower Roanoke River will continue to operate under a flood declaration through the Fourth of July weekend, according to a Dominion Energy news release.
The flood declaration will continue through next week. Beginning Saturday, July 4, flows through the system will begin to decrease, but Lake Gaston is expected to remain above 200.0 feet during the holiday weekend.
“In coordination with the Army Corps of Engineers, Dominion Energy is continuing to work to bring lake levels down safely while at the same time trying to control flooding downstream,” the news release stated.
The anticipated water levels for Saturday and Sunday are 199.80-200.15 feet, compared to Friday’s 199.95-200.40 range.
